Hi....My clio williams 1 is suffering with low oil pressure....I think.... :?

Runs at about 2.5 bar on startup but when warm drops to 1.5 bar ish and on tickover when hot almost zero bar ???

What is the problem?? Could it be the oil pressure sender ?? I've changed the oil for 5w 40 synthetic last weekend and only a very slight improvement...could it be the gauge, or could it be the motor???

Apart from this shes running great with no knocks or any nasty noises....

Excuse my ignorance...Im a complete mechanical numpty

Mines started to drop near zero recently when the engine is up to temp. Tbh i think its to do with the hot weather, its gettin real hot under the bonnet. Also, i wouldnt worry to much cuz you wouldnt know any different if you owned a car without guages. If it aint broke dont fix it

those readings are fine.

it has a lot to do with the type of oil your using. I just recently put some cheap halfrauds 5w40 fully synth in mine and on idle when hot i'm getting 0.5bar at most. It just means there's little restriction so the oil is flowing around without much resistance.

If you want higher pressure maybe put some thicker oil in? 10w40?

isnt 10w40 the same thickness as 5w40 at operating temp?

I use halfrauds 5W40 oil and its not bad tbh. Temp never goes above 110 - 115.

5 bar cold pressure whiel driving, 3 bar cold idle, 1 bar warm/hot idle, in a valver.
