When I was working on the 16v recenty I noticed that the brake discs were only clearing up on one side. The outside of the disc was clear of all rust etc but the inside only had a strip about 1cm wide all round where it had cleared.
I've not really had a chance to drive the car yet but just wondered what the likely problem is and how I would go about fixing it. I don't know much about how the calipers work in great detail so a quick explanation of what needs done would be great.
Thanks.

Also meant to say that theres plenty friction material left on the pads by the looks of things.

I'll have a look at that tomorrow then, how exactly do you go about freeing them up.

For the sliders can I just use any sort of general purpose grease?
Also do I just undo the two bolts just behind the bits of rubber on the caliper? As I say I haven't done much with ragards brakes before, apart from removing the calipers and discs for other jobs, so I'm not sure of whats what.

when you take the caliper off , you should be able to pop the rubber off around the slider and slid off the carrier.
hehe u need to use a high temp grease such as copper grease, otherwise it will burn away when u get the brakes hot.
