engine and gearbox mounts

if the mounts on my engine + gearbox have been taken out at some time
and not been replaced as to factory specs would this cause any knocks when starting off from stand still, if yes what would i need to do to reset the specs and where would i be able to get these specs or dimensions from, thanks

also are there any diagrams i could see on this problem :)

If you are getting knocking pulling away, check your lower ball joints for play.

It may be these.

im getting that when pulling away and sharp turning did think it was something to do with the ball joints,but havnt had a good scan yet!

It was the ball joints on mine. Worth checking.

checked the ball joints and they are ok, but this knock will happen with just dipping the clutch on and off with out moving the car :?

could be the dog bone mount needs replacing?

get this on mine sumtimes!

sounds like the dog bone. you need to people really. one sat in the car the other watching for movement back and forth. also the haynes manual says there should be 29mm between the bottom pulleys cover and the edge of the body next to the strengthing rod. hope this helps

thanks, dog bone mount i have changed but didnt know about the 29mm clearence so thats the next bit to check cheers :D

also check the mount under the battery this knocks when its loose or worn
