what are the better ones out there? what do you guys use?

i've currently got a 2 tonne one, but it doesn’t inspire confidence, and it also doesn’t lift the car high enough for me to get comfortably underneath.

have a couple of 2 ton jacks but I prefer the big 3 ton, low entry one. comes with a prop fixed handle liek you see at teh tyre fitting centres. not cheap though mate.

Don't get a Clarke Pro one from Machine Mart I broke the one I bought at the weekend in an hour.

Took it back and swapped it for a 2 1/2 ton one from halfords. Its spot on goes down really low and has a nice smooth lift and drop. Its a yellow one not sure on brand.

its highet that bothers me more than weight what with the car being lowered.

To get mine under I drive the car onto a couple of paving slabs. Even with the super low jacks the tyre place I go to use we had to jack it with the standard jack then put their jacks under.

My Clarke 2 tonner is still going fine. Sunk in to the tarmac in my car park when I hoisted the Xsara up on it though.

still works fine....tis a 2 ton one, not sure on make, i have to jack mine up slightly with the std jack, or drive onto a slab/block of wood to get it under the car tho.

The jack I had before I bought the new one finally broke after 45 years. My dad bought it 2nd hand for £75 in 1977 and it was well old then. We abused it to **** aswell, and it finally gave up the ghost last week.

the halfords one is just over £20, think its the 2 1/2 tone one seems pritty good

my halfrauds one does the job, it was cheap, if it breaks its no major loss, i'll just buy another.

Ive got the halfords one as well. Only problem i have with it is that it slowly lowers itself, no matter how tight the little screw is done up..
