Finally got round to digging them out of the garage to have a look. They need a refurb and 3 are on 205/60s, whereas one has a 185/60. The tyres are all too big anyway so not a problem.
The main problem is what to fit them on. I can't use em on my Clio anymore as they wont fit over the brakes and I don't trust GTT brakes with 300bhp lol. I fancy buying a lower spec mk1 (RT probably) and euroing that up as a daily driver.

yep i'd go with a cheapy and euro it
dont be soft, GTT brakes will be fine, mine lock up no danger which means the tyres are giving up before the brakes n thats on proxies
dare to be different, if it dont work then dont do it but at least try!!

I suppose the car won't weigh a great deal but still, with the speeed it'll be capable of can't see GTT brakes coping.
Matt
tbh mate if my car can already do 140 odd, and copes fine so give it a shot at least, thats what testin is for! and if u want 13's on it (which i rekon wud look fookin mint) then go for it and change em if its no good! :P

I'm going for 185/55s (those on it are 185/60s) which will be the same width but a bit shorter. I could fit 175/50s on but a. they're very expensive and b. they're over the limit of how much you can stretch the tyre, which means it has a chance of popping off the rim.
Just done this photoshop of it. Added one I did of a Mk1 Golf and Nissan Micra ages ago aswell hehe.
hope you got plenty of cash to get your arches lipped.
I was looking at getting some 9" wide rear deep dish rims however would have been silly money to get my arches lipped.

My mates coming down from Scotland to do mine for me. Took him 20 mins a side on my 106 and it didn't crack the paint. I mite not have em done yet i'll have to check the clearances.

He does it by heating the arch with a hot air gun then gently beating it out with a hammer and dolly. The method I used on one of my old cars was to heat the arch and then stick half a baseball bat (cut lengthways) between the tyre and arch. Apply some pressure pulling away from the arch and drive the car forwards and it makes a small lip in the arch.

I was looking at those the other day. Not sure how they'd work on the Clio rear arches as they're not a round shape to start with.
Matt
Not alot of cars are.
You start with the smallest diameter and roll that, then progressively move out.
Using a heat gun.
With extreem flaring, the paint most of the time cracks.
sweet. any pics of ur engine pal?
