Hi Guys,
I will be changing my Oil on a Williams 2 with 65k miles, which is best to use? Semi/full Synthetic? Do i get the oil filter from renault? How many litres does it take to fill up? is it 4.5?
Sorry for all the questions but its my first Willy service!

Use 5W-40 fully synthetic for the best protection. Get a genuine filter from renault, i bought one from halfrds and it was too big and i couldnt fit it between the subframe and the engine, £6.50 wasted.
I think it will take around 5-5.5 litres of oil to fill it up.
as above really i usually use fully synth as it's better for high temps on track but if you are changing it regularly semi synth will be fine.
i find the non reno filters, with the nut on the end, are better to fit....if they get too tite, easy to throw a spanner on th end

Aye they look good, what is the name of the company that makes em, and where can you buy them from?
think fram...halfords i get mine from usually....£3.50 tho
It was a Fram one i took off last time, it had the nut fitting on the end, bought another fram one to replace it and there was no fitting on it, gonna b a night mare next time round, damn french

Thanks for the reply guys, any brands which are better than others? Ive always used mobile 1 or castrol RS on my various 4 wheeled terrors.
I used to use Mobil1, but a ralliart specialist advised Castrol for my Evo, have used it since, never had a problem, kept the lash adjuster drains a lot cleaner than the mobil1 did, also hear that shell Helix is a good oil, and Millers!
helix ultra gets my money usually.
have jus tried some castrol edge stuff in geds.iv already replaced it...done less than 10 miles.....bit too thin i think lol
altho asda have 6 litres of 15/40 havoline for less than a tenner..so mite try that for a few hundred miles

I just got 6 litres of 5w40 Fully Synthetic ELF oil and a genuine renault filter for 39.96 from Renault. The parts gaffa gave me £17 discount which was nice, got the oil for £5 per litre plus vat.
Mike
Silkolene Pro S 5w40 from www.opieoils.co.uk and a Purolator oil filter from them too.
Speak to oilman off of here regarding discount as it is his business

Went and got my renault oil filter from renault and i was shocked how small it was all my previous cars have had a filter twice the size, did the attendent give me the right part?
The Filter is about 60mm in size.
Also whilst enquiring about oil i was told my car required 15w-40 which i thought was too thick so i didnt buy the oil.
Saw some total Quartz 10w-40 for £9.99 is this stuff any good?
Thanks for you help guys.
Have tried filters from halfords / renault / gsf / bbperformance cant say i have found much diff with any of them i just change my oil every 3k and use fully synth, the oil is usualy still clean when i change mine :S
although does mean i do 3 or 4 oil changes a year compaired to 1 for most poeple
also do gear box at the same time :)
Oils i have tried mobile 1 seems to burn off too quick and you pay shit loads
Elf semi syth the stuff renault recommend, is a nice oil runs well although it doesnt do so well if you thrash the car about lots...
Castrol fully syth was very good just cost a fortune, no problems
At the moment im running chevron 10 w 40 fully synth runs well and works at high temps and the bouns that its only £11 for 4L

Is the filter ment to be that small guys? 60mm? Reason i ask every car ive owned has had an oil filter twice the size.
Thanks
D
yeah the filter is really small on willams, as it had the stupid oil cooler sandwich plate, meaning fook all space between the block and radiator.
its a small filter so change it about every 4-5k.

Thanks stew.
Still puzzeled why some young spotty attendent recormended me to use 15w-40 in my Williams, Surly its too thick!
im now using ELF exellum 5w40 engine oil in mine, changing it again after only 300+miles! got a good reason tho lol
and i always use genuine filters for sake of a few quid!
