Ive just had the car mot'd so got the cat put back on. following the mot the de-cat was put back on and ever since every time i take my foot of the go pedal the exhaust rattles like hell! i know where its hitting as the fella who put the decat back on showed me. its on the heatshield directly above the cat. its doing my head in! driving aint fun anymore! any ideas!? can i take the heatshield off? can i wrap the decat in heat wrap? help!

p.s - it was a little rattly before the mot so its not a 'new' fault, just seems to has got worse, and the last thing i want is to get thro another downpipe!

thanks
Dan

check the lambda sensor is screwed in completely too, that rattles when its loose, just bend the heatshield out the way if it is that

not honestly checked that but its (i'm 100% sure!) the rear end of the decat, i treid mashing up the heat shield a bit but that never helped.

is there a bracket of some kind on the manifold or further down to help reduce rattles........

i may try and get a pic if it stops bloody raining!!

Just find some replacement nuts and do it back up again.
You could leave it off, but wouldnt do you gearlinkage much good, and you would feel the heat by the gearstick etc.

Just what I thought. When I first saw the one circled I wondered how it was staying there, lol
