ok i'm stuck at my mates house... just went to start my car and it keeps dying out after starting....


it starts, then after about 5 seconds, has a lumpy idle and dies out...

what could be the problem?!!

Could be a lot of things: Bad earth, loose fuel pump connector, belt seizing. What did you do prior to parking at your mates house?

Nothing really, just a bit of normal driving out to Tesco's, then came back and parked up... no rain or anything...

Also check the fuse for the fuel pump hasn't blown. It sounds like its not getting any petrol through.

Well, if you have a can of WD40 or contact spray handy. Get it on the usual places like HT cables, fusebox. If its the ISCV cleaning that's beyond me, have to wait for one of the regulars to post up. Are you with AA?

Just messed around with the usual things, it stay on for a few seconds longer and did the same thing.. will check the fuel related problems in a min!


haven't got AA any more! cancelled them in january!

it's on low but hasn't hit reserve yet!

Don't trust the fuel gauge below quarter tank. Are you parked on a slope?

nope parked on a flat road... might try go get some fuel now
