If my powersteering pump is shagged, can i just take the rams off the steering rack so it is like having no powersteering??

It will bugger your rack, just get a manual roack and swap the racks and columns over and leave pump disconnected

no idea about the rams
but mine has gone
its was heavy still drivable but u wouldnt drive it like that for long
no where near enough response or turn
a lot more turns of the wheel and effert is needed even for small corners

unless removing the rams makes it easyer/smoother u would need manual rack

they6 can seized up fully when driven with no fluid in.. you either need to scrap power steering opt for a manual setup with all the bracketry, or just fit a new ps pump or second hand item from a megane coupe or williams.
