How to clean up/remove rust?

i've found some of the old dreaded rust on the pass side, are there any guides, recomendations on to remove it or clean it up and stop it coming back?

I found using the wirewheels which can be put into a drill are good for getting rid of the rusty metal
Then use Hammerite Kurust and apply as much as needed.
Then if its underbody apply a thick coat of hammerite paint.
And then apply some Underseal, (not waxoil).
If its a panel then you may have to smooth it out. then prepare for spraying.
