Can anyone suggest how best to remove this. I took the wheels off yesterday to do a bit of work and unfortunately one of the wheels nuts snapped. I've put some pics below and as you can see with the disc removed there is a bit of it sticking out but I don't know how best to remove this. I can't even try to remove is as the hub just spins, lol.
Pics are HERE (http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i158/naplesclio/?action=view¤t=PDR_0094.jpg) and HERE (http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i158/naplesclio/?action=view¤t=PDR_0093.jpg)
Thanks.
Could try some mole grips and try to undo it. should work.
if not could hammer it around by making an indent with a punch.
Mole grips or simular should work fine though.

Yeah I gave that a quick go the other day, but as I said the hub was just spinning, lol. I might put another nut in on the other side though and then press a bit of wood between it and the groung, should hold it steady enough to try and get it out.
Could put a screwdriver or something simular through one of the bolt holes.
Should stop it spinning. if not put it in gear usually stops the wheel rotating.

lol, I tried putting it in gear but it just kept spinning. I thought it should stop by putting it in gear, but it could be something to do with my buggered gearbox though 1st and 2nd are OK so I'm not sure.
I had that once on my 1.2 where it just kept spinning.
Quite annoying.
Try putting something through it to stop it spinning and should be able to undo it.
breaker bar on hub nut.
Use a stud extractor, or drill it out, or just screw it in until it pops out the other side.
tie the hub tight to something to stop it from moving...
if youve got a long enough set of mole grips you could grip the actually spinning part of the hub and wedge the mole grips into the ground stoping it from moving...
get a spare pair of hands to grip it wi mole grips or pliars
use a seperate set of mole grips on the bolt or hammer a screwdriver into it and unscrew it

breaker bar on hub nut.
cheers mate, might try that, hadn't crossed my mind but should work a treat to hold the hub.

o dear are both wheels off the ground?(if so thats why its spinning because of the diff)
you have 3 choices imo
1 stick a long screw driver throught 1 of the wheel bolt holes and try with a set of mole grips if you can get on it
2 drill it out starting with a small drill getting bigger and bigger (becareful you have to drill it stright and right in the middle
3 might cost about £70 let a pro do it eg: Thread doctor?? or simaler

where do you live i have a set of stud extractors
found these too could try them http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SNAP-ON-SCREW-STUD-EXTRACTOR-SET-EXD10-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ7617131814QQcategoryZ63918QQrdZ1QQcmd ZViewItem
but depends how good you are at drilling stright holes?

If I can't get it out with mole grips I'll probably try and drill it out, then if I bugger that up (most likely thing) I'll just put a new hub on. Hopefully it'll come out with the mole grips though.
That don't look too difficult. As long as you can keep the hub from spinning; some screw-loosening fluid and a pair of pliers should do the trick.

thans for all the help people. It came out no problem with mole grips once I stopped the wheel spinning anyway.

Another quick question - will I be OK to drive it about a little (just up and down the street a few times) with just three wheel bolts?? I would imagine so but I want to check first?
Also, where would be the best place to buy an individual wheel nut as Halfrauds say they only sell 4 at a time or something. Does it make a difference about what wheels are on as to what nuts are needed? I wouldn't have thought so but the guy at halfords was asking what wheels were on it to get the correct nut.

Should be fine. Drive sensibly and put the 3-bolt wheel at the back. I once drove more than 30 miles of city and highway like that. Was no problem at all.
