YES! Gearbox problem

well,.. it had to happen sometime ;-)

jc3 box on my hybrid is crunching third gear. only when im hammering it though, normal driving is fine.

for those that have had this problem, what the time frame before things get really bad?

my 4th does this on my jb3 (valver box).

its the synchromesh, and shouldnt get worse really unless you abuse it. Heel/toeing helps mine no end!

last one that did it lasted a couple more weeks after it started doin it.

my old box did that for over a year, then the diff got chewed!

i rammed into 2nd gear but lifted the clutch too early, after 10 seconds of grinding (going about 45mph), i continued driving as normal.

Ever since if i go about 40+ and put it into 2nd, it will catch and grind slightly, fine in normal driving.

Then it did it going into 3rd once after a long motorway journey, changing the gearbox oil helped a bit.

But the box whines, hate these JB3's made of cheese.

Maybe it wasnt 10 seconds but it seemed ages and didnt want to stop lol!

mine only crunchs in third when i kick its head in. been doing it since the pod back in feb. drive it hard most days and my brother borrows it to do the same so could be months left.

Mine does the same man!!!! ....these boxes are so shite lol
