If you include 16Vs, probably one of the greek boys. Dimkais, I think, runs his at 9300rpm limiter, so that should pull a bit.

yep - followed by craigs white t/b'ed one.

But j3ned is way out front and flans well on the pace if your counting engine transplants ?

Flaming monkey is prob fastest "williams" imo.

hybrids - 16v shell with f7r - martin WAS the fastest f7r on std cams, inlet, and without remapping. thats prob me now, looking at 1/4mile times, but im sure there are many fast uns out there. stripping is the future tho!

matt and flan's hybrids take it to a different level, but there aint nothing williams about them!

if its up to bb's usual spec, id say tbh down the 1/4 the std ones will be near as quick tbh. lost count of the amount of times iv beat nick reads down the strip.....an thats sposed b the quickest one outta their workshop afaik

hopefully il be taking the title back meself wen i finally get round to fitting the big valve head, cams, pullies, throttle bodies, loom and ecu...

shud be even quicker after its been to wayne for a re-map..wont be for a while it gets to see wayne tho

Well mines running 151.3 @ wheels and is rapido on road. Need a doo with these known fast williams to see if i'm on the pace.

I had decided i wasn't going to but over the winter my car will see the arrival of some cams and head work. Can't wait to see how it goes then.

Yep it was quick and that was with a bad bottom end I recon a better bottom and and it would have been much quicker.
I'd hate to say how quick it was compaired to hippys race car but it did overtake it.
150 at the wheels I think it made when it was mapped.

no offence edde..but if there had been a few of the quicker williams' on the track..ud have been raped......seriously.

i must say im quite happy with the performance of mine still, considerin the spec lol....and its a good match still for some of the quicker williams'...altho losing out on mid range/top end on mine now shows against the quick uns lol....bastards ;)

but its nowhere near its previous performance.....hopefully the next stage will better it lol

It would have been interesting to see what it would have been like. The 1/4 mile of the car wasn't stunning for its spec. I just hope th new owner puts a better balanced bottom end and shows what it could do.

I never had much chance to see what it would be like against other Williams all the time I ownered it only 172/182's.

All true 'Wiliams' are roughly the same...

if its been fettled with, then it ain't a Williams anymore!!

It just becomes, a chassis with an engine and a particular suspension set up.

If you are after a performance car..then the base start would NEVER be a clio...

Craig
07-05-2006, 16:36
unless you loaded then why not?

light, good chassis, great handling, designed to house a 2.0 lump with good power potential with no weight distribution issues like in novas etc!

you only have to see notorious's track day vids to see how good they are against evo's, skylines, etc, etc and his engine is almost standard!

i had a near 300hp scooby, and my 200+hp clio 16v is 10x more fun! and quicker/better handling and loads cheaper in every respect :)

lmao..no they arent mate....

if that was the case they would all be doin mid 14s down the 1/4 ..........which they aint.

the diffrences between the cars can be huge......one car could annihilate another in same spec.....without it comin down to the driver b4 anyone rolls that one out. ......

i know iv owned/driven quite a few...all of varying performance

Hehe. I wasn't going to say a word! I agree totally - there a good and bad examples of every car.

....so another reason why not to base opinion from just one or two encounters with something. Particularly when your car is a good example

don't be ridiculous, that's along the Stromba lines of thinking  not all engines are blueprinted, so there's no possible way any of them are or will be the same. similar maybe, but even thats not the case a lot of the time.

2 live
08-05-2006, 13:31
but again....even if they were blueprinted...thered be tolerances that are worked between..so finding 2 engines exactly the same in all dimensions, straight from the assembly line.......well its not gunna happen that often

J o n
08-05-2006, 13:44
that's my point, they CANNOT be the same and the more parts out of sync the slower its likely to be... so that figured in with Renaults ruthless policy on making a shit load of cars for maximum profit would explain the divided opinion on build quality issues. I mean they are all badly made and cheap, but some rattle from the off, or are slow as shit and never get any better, where others are amazingly quick and have no rattles.

2 live
08-05-2006, 13:52
same can be said for most manufacturers tho mate.....unless of course they are hand built. but even then, they will work between tolerances for most things

J o n
08-05-2006, 14:00

Dimkais Clio done 5,3sec for 0-97km/h (0-60mp/h).

Soon, in a dragstrip i think that we will see about 12,8-13sec for 1/4 mile...
