which pistons for a williams engine which will be n/a but running big power, cams, throttle bodies etc...
http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=1796
the 11:2.1 or the 9:.0.1
Am guessing the higher compression ones will be the best
It will have to have a remap though to make sure detonation dont occur wont it?
Has anyone fitted hi comp pistons?

High static compression NA, low for FI.

I'm super picky about forged pistons as most of them are crap.

You'll need more than a remap to warrent running them.

Is there a real need for forgies first off, or is this a theoretical discussion?

i am told that you will need higher compression pistons to get the most power from an engine
and that if doing so your better off running forged pistons so they dont melt etc...
The engine is going to be fully rebuilt to basically brand new before it even sees the car and will be extensively modified...
so thought i may aswell got some decent pistons in if there going to be renewed anyway... same with rods going to get some of them if i can find anywhere that wont want my left leg and right arm for them

I can supply quality pistons and rods at non-rip off prices mate.

rods will typically be around £450-500, and pistons around £400.

lol i dont know mate! what bore are you going for? standard is 82.7mm. im running 83.5mm. the choice is yours.

catch me on msn for a better chat about your spec: craigstanley_781@hotmail.com

Jonny the pistons are supplied from a French company who are using Ex-Mahle tooling. The con-rods are Catcams rods. these are pretty much off the shelf as they are made in batches of 2000 units.

Iapel.............hmmmmm

Its such a shame that nobody makes a decent off the shelf renault piston. I guess there just isnt the demand as nobody really tunes them on the world scale.

Cheers Stan,

Sorry for all the questions! .....What head gastket are you using with 83.5 mm pistons? (sorry couldnt help it)

How does everybody rate Arrow rods and Wossner pistons. Might be able to get them for £80 a pot for pistons & £100 a pot for rods.

running a std type FAI head gasket on mine. any larger and you would need to have to look at custom gaskets.

havnt got a clue wot the "nipple" is...they seem to like it tho!!

yea, weird.

If you need 84mm gaskets i can get them in 1.75 or 1.2mm thick, dont see a point for the hassle in a road car though.
