hi guys, ive owned a williams 3 for a few months now. not sure if i got original gearbox on it, flat out in 4th (bog standard) on the limiter its just touching over a ton and driving down bypass at 60 its revving around 3.1-3.2k is this right. think i remember someone saying they should do 120 in 4th or am i being a numpty?!
anohter quicky, am uprating the exhaust manifold, do i need to oreder williams exhaust gasket or is 1.8 the same?
any comments usefull good or bad

Thats right for a standard limiter

16v only do about 110-115 in forth. cant see how 0.5 k would have that much of an effect :?

sorry for the hi-jack but is there any advantage using a valver box in a willy?

my mates ratios were knackered on his valver box and he was getting that kind of speed in 4th, he got jus over 100 in 3rd but ive never known any other box to be like that so im guessing it was knackered

How can a gearbox get knackered and suddenly change its ratios? That just doesnt happen, it cant of been a valver box.

I hit the limiter in 4th on my valver at an ainidcated 119mph.

for a std williams that sounds bout rite mate

a willy with raised limit will obviously do more, dependant on wot the limiters set at

u can get higher speeds without the limiter messing with..but u need to find a diesel box or similar...think jesus' was like 100 in 3rd, 130 in 4th or summat daft like that

the kangoo box is a shorter ratio from a diesel from memory aswell...remember ritchspeeds topping out at 120.

yeah...think jesus' will have been out the 1.9 d tbh

the kangoo box wasnt a direct replacement either iirc

so basically fitting a diseal box will kill top end but but will give higher speed in 1st 4 gears. Does it not bog the car down in 1st?

You'd need a tuned Williams or a big hill to get flat out with a diesel box the ratios are stupidly long the top speed will be 150+mph.

The kangoo box is the opposite as it is short ratios so it'll accelerate like **** but max out at 120mph. I was gonna fit one to mine but with the 13s it'd max out at 102mph haha (thats with a redline of 8000rpm aswell).

diesel box and a large hill will get you WELL off the clock... tried and tested. closest I got to top speed in it was 300rpm off the limiter...
