northy

as these two have taken it uppon themselves to ruin there cars over the weekend - let have a club wip around and get them mobile again.

Martin - looks like he is going for Matt Browns williams 2 shell
Luner - the red valver shell of 2live

I recon with a few of us - martins car should only take a day to get reshelled lol...

So can u let me know guys what the planns are

Martin

cheers northy...well I'm thinking that bare shell swap over will take ages...so I'm looking at getting a cheapish running valver then swapping everything over...guess I'm gonna have to get a move on. Engine swap is the only thing I can't handle meself....

I think I have a spare seat if one of them needs a lift to FCS?

Lunner
03-05-2006, 08:44
Hopefully gonna repair mine, be a shame to waste a pretty much mint shell.

Gav's old man is hopefully gonna deliver the verdict tongiht, if its repairtable hopefully it will be back on the road in a couple of weeks, althoguh i do need a williams rad and front bumper

Gav
03-05-2006, 08:46
when did my old man say he was coming to have a look at it Lunner?

Lunner
03-05-2006, 08:50
said he was coming last night, but then i rang....remember....and he said he was behind and woudl defo come down this evening.

Basically if its repairable hes the bloke who will be doing it, its just a case of how quickley he can do it.

If not i'll get a rolling shell, or a valver with ****ed engine and slowly transsfer bits over, unless you have a unit reshelling a car ain;'t an easy or quick job, esp doing it with limited drive space

Flan
03-05-2006, 09:07
Lunner it looks pretty f*cked to ba honest... i wouldn't touch it to be honest...

Re-sell will be peice of pi55 the hardest thing it fuel tank and Brake lines...

i recon two people can do it in a weekend.....

ooo and windscreen will be a bitch....

remember i built my Williams1 from a bare shell :P

Lunner
03-05-2006, 09:14
Yeah i knkow, and cheers for the offer.....but i have exams on going atm, and tbh the only major thign is the chassis rail is a little kinked, apart from that its fine, and its alot less hassle to get it repaired

Flan
03-05-2006, 11:17
lol

tbh the only major thign is the chassis rail is a little kinked,

thats the main structure of the car!!!! just think 1-2mm out and it will handle like shit!!!

Then again the car owes you nothing...

03-05-2006, 11:46
if chassis rail is ****ed mate so is the car! why risy your life cos if that crashes again it will just fold!

Lunner
03-05-2006, 11:48
OK cheers guys.

Looked again basically the end of the rail is bent over, and its pivioted about 1/3 of the way down it, the only bit it affects is where the subframe bolts on, and got a new subframe, so if that all lines up we are good to go, oh and i think its pushed the other side out slightly as the wing now catches on teh door when it opens, shoudl be good, if not then will be the time to re shell it

Lunner
03-05-2006, 11:49
if chassis rail is f**ked mate so is the car! why risy your life cos if that crashes again it will just fold!

See above, its not the main chassis rail of the car, that goes under the car lol, its the engine chassis rail, the only thign that bolts to bent bit is the subframe, and it will be strengthened when its straightened

If the cars drivable to some extent how about doing a reshell at FCS on the stand surly thats got to be the ultimate club show?

Lunner
03-05-2006, 22:35
LOL

Mine is being fixed, but we coudl do that with martin's

Sounds a good idea actually, rather than wandering around the show bored, all of us working on it i recon we coudl get it done in a day

northy
04-05-2006, 07:54
We would need to bring all the tools to the show and oil plus coolant

The stand is 50% grass 50% tarmac

If martin is up for it and matt brown gives martin the williams shell - i will arrange to collect it for him and you guys can then do a shell swap.

Dont forget were camping the sunday night martin so if we dont manage it then u can always get the rac to get u home.

Only problem is what to do with the 'other' shell once its been stripped.

Lunner
04-05-2006, 10:24
Leave it there lol

I'll be bringing pretty much most of my tool kit anyways as i'll have track time (hopefully).

Woudl be a benefit if the supplied shell was a rolling shell, or atleast had the cuntish items still on it, ie brake lines and fuel tank, rest of it is piss tho

Flan
04-05-2006, 13:52
LOL That would be funny as..... but ill end up getting dirty

Plus im pretty sure Martin will want his car b4 FCS

Theres track time the day before so maybe worth asking if you can start work or deliver the parts then.
As for getting rid of the sheell well how were you intending on bringing it I've got a car trailer but no usable tow car that I can borrow.
Could always bring a power supply and chop the old shell up with a grinder.

Flan
04-05-2006, 22:29
i can't belive your seriously sudgesting it....

could cut it up... and evey member has to take a bit home....lol

Lunner
04-05-2006, 23:03
i bagsey the front cross member and slam panal

dannyt
05-05-2006, 07:08
lol.....would be a great day and think we would win the prize for the best stand, however i can't see us all completing it and have everything up and running and away within the day!

Everyone knows what it's like working on the old clio's, those bolts aren't just going to fall off, some might require extra attention and do we have power?

Also what about all the parts, some will be forgotton or wrong size etc! I know it's happened to me and would be crap if happened on the day!

But if everyones up for then i'm willing to get involved!

Lunner
05-05-2006, 07:27
POwer isn't a problem, i have a battery powered impact wrench, and a 900mm breaker bar, between them they shift just about anything.

Parts ain't a problem as its just a straight swap from car to car

northy
05-05-2006, 07:36
Im bringing a generator to run the tv were having

i also have a car with a towbar on - so theres two problems taken care of.

If the shell isnt too stripped then it should be easy.

So are we going to have a go ?

Lunner
05-05-2006, 07:47
I'm up for it :D

Worst comes to worst we take two half complete cars home, i'm sure if itts there people wil pitch in to a certain extent.

Would be very nice to win best stand on our 2nd visit there

Zollo
05-05-2006, 09:04
Might the officials not get pissed off with the angle grinder noises? And I'm sure they'll be some sort of health and safety issues, as usual

Good idea though... Williamsclio Track Heap Challenge 8)

northy
05-05-2006, 09:09
well i will ask mark - but im sure that most of the work will be spannering and swapping bits over.

I If we dedicate half the front of the stand to the swap - then im sure it will draw some crowds.

Martin / lunner will have to get there current cars there though.

We need to have a few people that are avalaible to help out.

I wont be in the morning lads - but the afternoon i will be able to help out for a bit.

Also - if martin and lunnnnnnner are doing the tracktime in 'anther' car then wont be able to bring both.

The options are there lads - let me know what u recon.

Martin
05-05-2006, 14:51
i wana get mine sorted before the show lol would be a better day with everyone just chilling...rather than fooking with a conversion

Lunner
05-05-2006, 15:44
This is true actually, looks liek the idea is off lol

Don't want a williams shell as its hassle declairing it as a 1.8 etc and it will end up costing me more insurance wise unless i'm really dodgy
