View Full Version : Really Loud Humming Noise

30-04-2006, 15:37
When driving above 30mph and the noise seems to come from the driver side front wheel, it goes away when going left however goes loud when going straight or right.

Its so loud that i cant hear the passenger next to me :(

Is this the hub bearing or some sort of wheel inbalance?

im taking it to the garage on tuesday (damn bank holidays) but i want to know if i should be driving it or not.

Thanks

yeap wheel bearing id say too.

jack your car up and see if your wheel moves about if it does new bearing needed

about 2 - 3 weeks possibly.

There is no steering wheel vibration tho, just noise.

How much does it cost to get sorted?

£70 for a wheel bearing is a good price imo. if you cant reomve the hub and stubb axle yourself though it would cost much less cos they just have to press the old bearing out and new one in

Might be able to get hold of entire hub, discs, calipers and pads for less than getting new bearings changed.

tbh, unless it has a new bearing in what to say it wont happen again sooner than if you get a new bearing?
