iv been trying to replace my lower ball joint
i have removed 2 of the bolts that hold the b/j to the sub frame but there is a third
it is attached to the caliper side
its the 1 underneath that holds the actual ball joint in i have managed to undo the not but the bolt is seized
its a 16mm bolt and my crap tools wont do the job i think my sockets are to soft and iv snapped the 16mm spanner
i need to borrow a good 16mm socket please

im havin a problem gettin it back together the drive shaft is now sat on a bolt that i have undone ?

frikkin crappy old tools suck

To get the bolt out simply smack it with a hammer

The wedge a big screw driver in to prise teh clamp joint apart and ball joint will drop out, slide new one in and remove screwdriver, position so slot is inline with bolt hole and fit new bolt.

Next is the hard bit......using force pull the wishbone down so that the holes line up or so tyou can get one bolt in and a nut on the end, and then tighten this uop till you can get teh 2nd one in.

One of those jobs that once you knowe the knack its easy but untill then its fooking hard

It shouldn't be threaded all the way through.

If it is then some monkey has put a SCREW in instead of a BOLT. It needs to be a bolt as these are far stronger.

If knocking it out with a hammer isn't working then it may be worth, taking off the caliper and disc, making it a bit easier to get at. Also, try as suggested before get a screwdriver into the split and prise apart to give a bit of play in the clamping. You won't break anything, but just be careful of the CV boot..if you nick that then you are gonna need a new one.

It will come out eventually, IMO I would replace the screw/bolt if you have really given it some pasty...
