What's the verdict on these? Worth bothering with?
I had a quick go in winston's car a while back..felt very different but was nicely weighted once up to speed. He did'nt have a problem piloting it round ty croes....

What's it like in terms of no. of turns lock to lock.
would it not be the same, just heavier?
I dunno I presumed it would be the same no of turns...hopefully winston will give us a proper low down

Yes but if the rack comes off a boggo shit box I'd imagine that will have more turns lock to lock than a valver.
Did Wonston have a full manual rack or just bypass the PAS pump?
he had the works....rack, column etc ...for sale at the mo too iirc
Yes its worth it. Improves response and steering isn't in the least bit heavy unless you're a big jessie...do it!

Has Brun's got it then u33?
Yup! :)
AFAIK, Bondys rally car had the first kit, Winston the second and BRUNs the third.
Helps with oil changes too...

So what kit is it specifically? Is it the same no. of turns lock to lock?
Manual rack and column off a non abs car, a reno backet of some description, another brackt of some description.......for when you remove teh PAS pump, and a shorter aux belt

What about the turns thing? Aren't the boggo models more?
doubt it, why woudl they make them more??
IIRC when i had my 1.2 full lock was about the same
Measure lock to lock on a pas rack, and i'll go an measure the nukber of turns lock to lock on a manual rack
EDIT:
Just measured both lock to lock
PAS 3.25 turns
MANUAL 3.75 turns....approx for both, basically just over 3 turns and just under 4 turns

Sports models tend to have a lower number of turns that's all. All the boggo cars I've ever driven have needed oil tanker levels of steering input to turn teh wheels.
Not a massive amount in it, a quick rack would be very nice though 8)

Don't just bypass the pump and leave the PAS rack on unassisted you'll crash the steering is stupidly heavy.
