thinkin fuel system, o rings n filter on the way, then what if it aint that?!
just an hour or so, prolly not work, but always try the easy free things first
i'll have a blag tomos then i rekon if the missus dont moan too much! :P
am gonna do injector o rings (dont ask, just believe me one of them shud of been changed when i did the gasket but i....botched it...a bit) and fuel filter neway as a matter of principle cuz i aint done it yet!
cud it be back pressure n all? am decatted, mite slap cat back on n see :?
wont be the decat mate, that will free things up

tend to agree with martin tho... 115 for a valver does sound like the engine is tired!
mine is on 106k and will still pull the book 120+ mph :o

Time for compression test.. if it passess, then worry not.
mine does over the speedo . thank god for the road angel. but standard in good condition 125 to 130 dependent on conditions.
Start with simple things like clean the plugs and HT cable contacts. Clean the fuel system with a few fill-ups worth of fuel cleaner. Do a "quick oil change" engine flush. Sometimes, little things can add up. Also check for leaks or obstuctions along the inlet/exhaust airflow.

Mine will do 130mph speedo indicated (98k engine), didnt have enough private road to reach higher speeds, but it was still pulling.....just.
i'll set the picture,
i did head gasket change 4 months ago and i've done just under 5k since then, the engine is on 99k
the head has had all new seals etc
i've had one new injector thats orange not yellow, cud this affect it?
the o rings on the injectors are botched, well one is, it cud be this
i did a compression test with craig100 last nite and its fine....we think but i've never done one before and craig wasnt sure how good the tester was.
before the rebuild i ran it off the end of the clock in 5th and cud get 140 easy
after the rebuild tbh i have never checked so it cud of been like this since january, i dont tend to go over 100 neway cuz i value my licence!
i have never changed the fuel filter, it could be this
as far as i know air flow and exhaust flow is fine, but i will check tb and inlet tonight
when i went off the clock it had a cat on, its now decatted not sure iof this is relevant but people say back pressure on 'low' power n/a cars is important?
it feels okay through all gears upto 4th then seems to loose it, pulls to limiter in 1-3 no problem but then in forth just dies. i kept up no probs with the meet last sunday :?
thats all i can think off for now!!
Doesn't sound like anything in particular can be causing the problem.
If the compression test was OK, and by OK I mean each cylinder was reading about the same then this shows that relatively everything is fine. The decat won't make that much difference in back pressure, as this is mainly achieved with the tuning of the manifold to produce the pulse waves and maximise VE.
If, as you say it pulls OK in 1-3rd as per normal then the engine and fuel system seem to be delivering the goods as before.
Best option would be to get it on the rollers, and map out the performance in every gear. See what's happening when you hit 4th and 5th. That way you will know for sure what the problem may be.

yeah mate, it collapsed just under the inlet to the airbox, cudnt even see it was like that till i took airbox top off to check the throttle body. pressure difference must of just ****ed it! least it aint me h/g!! :wink:

I bought some for my old clio and it ripped within 2 miles of driving. I took it off and duck-taped it up, and it last until i sold it!
When i did my bumper scoop i bought 1m of motorsports stuff from tweeks. 19quid iirc, but defo worth it!! :twisted:

nah man, was like it before i rekon, u just cudnt see cuz was right up under the airbox mate where it had gone, the reason it looks like that now is cuz i beat the crap out of it when i ripped it off!! was stampin on it for 5 minutes...... :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :wink:
am gonna go whole hog for a hill power silicon effort at some point, just gonna run it with a crappy bit of old ducting off my RT for now! :P
