Hi all, Its insurance time and this is my first renewal....£490 tpft for a williams 2 with wheels and exhaust declared. Ive been told this is on the high side?

Im 28....9years NCB, cat 1 alarm, parked on street, unlimited milage and live in hertfordshire.

Currrently with HIC

my renwal is £690 fully comp with 3yrs no claims, no mods.
tbh i havent heard of too many ppl whinge about HIC. id try now union and poss adrian flux. id also suggest getting a fully comp quote as now the difference between fc and 3rd party for me is only £50 or so (getting old eh). btw the renewal is based on me being 22 (in 3 weeks), 10k a yr mileage and parked on the drive. parking the car on the street put my insurance up £120 l/y as compared to the drive and putting it the garage saved a further £100 too

i see no point in a fully comp quote... any sort of smash would be a write off anyway.

yes but if it was your fault? or what happens if an uninsured driver hit you? i couldnt afford to lose the 3k id get paid out by the insurance co' for not going fully comp. i could understand if it was 1k difference but in my example its only £50

if it was my fault then my insurance would pay out...third pparty doesnt mean that if I have an accident ..lets say into a ferrari, that i have to pay the owner £100k .. it means that they'll get paid out and i wont.

The market value of a willy/hybrid is not very high. Plus if i were to crash.. i would fix it atmy own expense, much cheaper than a garage.

yer i understand how insurance works. what im saying is that i couldnt afford to lose the market value on my car (as stated above 3K). im not saying anything about the insurance co not paying out to the other driver, more about losing my fuking money if 1.) some unisured driver hit me or 2.) i went out in a blaze of glory and rolled it or something when only having 3rd party insurance.

if an uninsured driver struck me would claim via the MIB. ..its a body set up and all insurers pay into it for this kind of thing.. uninsured drivers..stolen cars etc..

a blazing glory of acrash in a clio ..would probably kill me! lol

Just renewed it.

Did get a couple of quotes and one was cheaper so i phoned my insurer up and made some adjustments and ended up with £450 including legal cover personal protection and added my younger brother on the policy still TPFT though.

Well £450 isnt bad still cheaper than everybody else i know who drives a reasonable car!! lol

That is a rip off;

This year, I payed £390 fully comp, only 3 years NCB. This price also includes breakdown cover (including Europe), hire cars etc etc. Got this through Adrian Flux insurance.

Oh, and I'm 30, but not much different from 28...

Adrian Flux I hear you say? I won't be renewing with them come renewal time.

I paid my insurance off in 1 go (700quid).

I moved to a nice area half way through my policy, got quotes off other companies etc and they quoted me 300-400, phoned flux expecting a nice refund, but no! they said it wouldn't come down. I asked about cancelling my policy for the remaining months, expecting half of that 700 back, no! I would only get 15% or so of the remaining months due!

my wife used to work for axa insurance. insurance policies are cheaper if you put your partner as a named driver (makes them think your more sensible).

Not sure thats totally down to Adrian Flux as they only act as brokers. I think that will be down to your individual insurance company what happens there. Though I go through Flux, the actual policy in with Royal Sun Alliance. Try them direct!

I havn't taken it yet as my williams isn't ready for the road yet but I have got a quote saved for when it is. Im21 have been driving 3 years, no ncb, 1 accident thats down as my fault and one claim for when my last car got nicked. average postcode not too nice not rough, £1000 tptf or 1300 fully comp and thats on a standard williams2. thats with admiral and I have spent hours upon hours of filling in online quotes and not one has come close!! my mate is 20 and hes only just passed and hes paying 1550 on a 306 1.4 meridean so i dont think I've done too bad.

One quite sunday afternoon the birds were flying and some small fluffy squirels were happily collecting their nuts for the coming winter months... far in the distance the hollow clunking of a french hot hatch could be heard in the distance, mr squirel could tell something wasn't quite right as the clunking whining hot hatch clicked into 4th with the hammer pinned, mr squirel made his way into the trees and watched with much delight as the black french death machine came hunrtling through the air fliping in "cartwheel" fashion as though it was putting on a show for all the ikle furry forest creaturs...

Much to the ammusment of mr squirel as the poor driver (me) clumbered from the wreck only to have to poder exactly how he was going to explain to the evil traffic constable exaclty how his car has just performed a 270 twist, followed by a couple of flips to land on its side on the wrong side of the road... my words to this day remain the same... "OH 4 FOOOK!"
