I remember reading somewhere that the rear calipers used on the 16v Clio are also shared with other french cars with rear discs.
Does anybody know what cars they are?
I was looking at a vts saxo today at the scrap yard, and the rear calipers looked the same from memory.

The rear calipers for the Williams can be found on the following other makes and models -

* Renault 5 GT Turbo
* Renault 9
* Renault 11
* Peugeot 1.9 GTI
* Peugeot 306
* Peugeot 309
* Citroen ZX
* 19 16V and any 19 with rear discs (1.7, 1.8 and the TD's)

So keep your eyes open next time your in the breakers yard next time yours seize.

Cool, i knew i read it somewhere! never thought to look on the homepage lol. Good list that.
Can you find out what other ones there are.
Think i will have to have another look at the saxo ones then, good thing is the saxo ones are alot newer than any other french car so should in theory be in better nick.

Do Renault sell new or refurbed ones?

I was told there refurbed, but most of the time they give you ones which look like there new..

In that case, what would you get from Shotroen? I'd bet it would be new ones as they only stopped production a couple of years ago.

Well in theory they stopped making Vts in like 2001 so if you got some rear calipers off that they would alot better than getting some second hand renaults which are alot older.
Would depend what the rip off scrappys want for them though.

Just had a look and im wrong, it appears they stopped making them in 2003

Still alot newer than getting some second hand ones off a 1995 Valver

True. Just thinking that Citroen might sell the calipers and they're actually new rather than refurbs. Wonder what their prices are like as well.

have you ever bought a refurbed caliper, its like new anyway, everything gets replaced on them and the full thing gets a good clean and usually zinc coated aswell, dont pay new prices, refurbs are practically new and just as good

Yes. Got 2 refurbed rears from GSF. Not overly impressed with one of them.
