Anybody on here gone?

Going from next saturday until the monday and am in the process of sorting out travel, accomm., insurance (both car and travel), breakdown cover, etc etc

Its a bit of a mission to cover everything, not quite like a UK trackday!! It looking pretty costly, but to say I've driven the ring has got to be one of life's top 50 wishes.

Going in a full convoy with some re:worx lads, so should be an awesome 3 days 8)

If any of you guys are bored and hankering for some foreign trackday action, come along :)

Public open days on Sunday and Monday, so anyone can pop along and see how the real life track compares to GT4

I'll post up after the trip

Mooseman
20-04-2006, 17:10
Errr €60/lap ... not what I heard at all, thats very expensive - its no more than 10 mins a lap, so thats say €500/hour, and we are there for 2 days!!

I heard that its €20 per lap ... but I have never been, only heard! Maybe you're boss is winding you up?

I think one of fellas coming along has around 450rwhp, so I'll be making sure I wear two sets of underpants when I take a passenger lap with him

Zollo

Yeah, 20 Euros a lap is much more like it. The boss is clearly trying to impressive the ladies

Mooseman

Just to clarify - its €16 per lap, so maybe Clio_B needs her ears waxing

ive been...its fecking ace.

last summer me and 3 mates drove to le mans for the 24hrs, then drove to s.france, then to italy...through italy to germany, to the Nurbergring...all in a week! the best bit was we were in my mates audi RS2 8) which he let us take for a rag round the 'ring!!

iirc its about E15/lap, but they do deals at like 5 laps for E50

i actually spotted a williams there...RHD aswell, it had just spun...he was facing the wrong way on the grass!

Err it wouldn't happen to have been me would it? jsut after a left hand bend the the track goes uphill? I ended up the wrong way round last year there.
There was a few other CLio I forget when we were there though.

Awsome track best track even power is important to get very good time the hills slowed me down load in the diesel.

I'm going to post a message about a planned trip in the next few weeks i want to do tomorrow.

I've been! Was a couple of years ago now, so prices have probably risen a bit since I was there (infact sure it was 9euros a lap :? )

Anyway, you'll have an ace time 8)

I went in my mates Ford Pop hot rod a couple of years ago it was great ragging round the ring its got jag independent front and rear suspension so the handling is great and a 350bhp ford v8 in.

Shame we crashed it coming back from Le Mans on the same trip we came over a hump back bridge in France and there was a 90 left after which we didn't realise and hit the wall. We managed to drive back and when we got back it'd knocked the suspension 2" out of square.

Its only realy at the spots where people take photos.

of course the coaches go sideways!!

There is A LOT of graffiti around the track - access onto the track is very easy, I took a couple of photos right on the edge. Being 13 miles long its easy to get on on not get caught or even seen. I was tempted to leave my own mark on the track

Its best not to otherwsie loads of things like that would be written.

The problem is the ring officially a opne road so by walking on it (or cyclying) its infact a crime so by writing Williams CLios your infact promoting crime nto sure what the officaly would then do. Stupid I know.

chatting to the evo lads couple of weeks ago and they were telling me horror stories about how u get ****ed if u crash at the ring they said...
"ring aint somewhere u want to crash. if u crash they charge you 1000 euros an hour if they have to close the track. they charge you if you crash and have to be helicoptered away. they charge you for hitting the tyre wall, so u really dont want to crash."

they also told me about how someone new a "bloke from work" who had borrowed his bosses Noble and whilst on the way to amsterdam he thought i know what will be sensible lets take a rear wheel drive 300bhp car with no traction control round a 13mile f1 track and see if i can get away with it, he wrote it off!

Mooseman

I can back this up, having done some extensive research prior to our trip. If you crash, it won't be cheap and there is no way of insuring against it either. Your car may well be insured, but the track is def NOT. Its €400 to get dragged off the track, they do charge by the hour if you are responsible for any closure, armco (the track wall) is something like €150/metre to replace, you get charged for fluid leaks, basically don't mess up!! I read somehwere that the record bill was €15,000 for a 150 metre long crash for one car

I had a brown pants moment when I spun the RX7 270 degrees onto the grass after hitting a freshly wetted track surface after a lap in 100% dry conditions - it can rain in areas on the track and not others and you would not know about it, the track even looked dry. Fortunately I was able to control it and drive off, only requiring replacement underwear

Tbh the cars we were driving were close to 400bhp, rear wheel drive, with no traction control, in the wet and even in the snow, and barring my unfortunate moment, we had no problems. You must take it easy and not push your car like at Dony for instance, this track is not really designed for that unless you plan on buying a season pass. Drive like a muppet, in any car, and you'll be eaten up by this track before you know whats going on.

Further to this, the track very rarely closes for cars - its the bikers that are the problem. On Monday morning the track was closed for nearly 2 1/2 hours due to bikers coming off, and those incidents required police, ambulance and flat beds to come out. Over the time we were there I saw about 8 crashes, so they are a common occurance!

Zollo
05-05-2006, 09:41
Well, that's put a downer on that one! Would still like to take the Willy though. Just have to control myself :?

Would never take my bike. Waaaay too dodgy :(

YEp bills at the ring arn't cheap road insurance should cover you as its a toll road but some companies make an exception saying unlimited toll roads arn't covered under insurance my one at the moment doesn't my old one mentioned the ring my name as not covered not that it bothered me.
if you crash at the ring be prepaired for a bill they try not close the track so unless it a bad multi car pill up you will get away barriers arn't cheap second time i went (when I spun the William) the M5 which was with us hit the barrier down by the hotle wrote of somehting like 8 sections of barriers and smashed the post and they tried to chrage them to pull him off. Total cost for barriers was €2k which is what under £1.5k personally I'm willing if I crash to just pay out and don't bother getiing insurance involved.
A GT3 crashed last weekend wwith the owners friend driving it cars a total write off these things happen.

Record bill is £10 for a GT3 which took out most of the barrier down a hill somehting stupid they closed th track the car had hit the barrier upside down so it was a right mess but it wasn'g haging round the car was being driven quick.

Its the bst track ever don't forget that even on Uk circuit you pay for the damge just 995 of the time they don't bother with you damaging a few tyres.

Who's up for a trip there tenting in say 6 week time for a week or so I want to get back there so much.

Think of the road like a fast back road not a track and you'll be fine.

Stan - cannot belive you must have seen me I remember a blue car coming up the hill when i was th wrong way an a BMW it must have been you.
