View Full Version : engine rebuild costs/mileage?
At what age/mileage would you think a williams engine would be in need of a rebuild, and how much are you talking from a reputable company? are you looking at a grand or more?
Is 100k at lot for a williams engine, or would it still have a lot of life left in it yet? saying it has been well serviced!
I am asking as i dont want to fork out for a williams and then have to spend a shed load on rebuilding it, just been down that route with a cossie, and it has put a massive whole in my wallet, so i want to be on the safe side this time, lol
my dads business does it for super cheap, he done my valver in less than a week and he is awsome at what he does
you wont find it cheaper dood,
pm me for details
100k isnt a lot of mileage for these engines tbh
they jus keep goin if they well looked after.
id say give stan a bell for costs etc.
as a rough guide iv pretty much rebuilt one in me own time, weekends mainly in less than 2 weekends..at a leisurely pace.id say a couple days, three tops for complete strip down/rebuild of all parts, as for costs, depends how far u wanna go tbh, obviously replacing all pumps/ancilleries as well will add to the overall cost, but could save money in the long run.
Looking at around 1500+ for a rebuild.
Mine is on 93k and still going strong, as are many other f7r's!
Mine will hopefully be getting the "works" soon.
Undecided whether to keep std inlet. If i went down the ITB route id want a fully lightened and balanced bottom end with possibly forged conrods just so i could up the revs even more, and with some agressive cams be looking at some crazy power! But thats all fooking tonnes of money!

Mines on 152k, nuff said....
cheers for the plug 2live!
I can guarantee that i can do a full rebuild cheaper than any other business can at the moment. (possibily excluding mates/dads rates!).
i can also carry out custom work inc head flow development, itb's, cams, rods, pistons etc etc
also need to get my beast sorted
if you do a full rebuild for less than £300 mate then yer i guess u r cheap
8)
but i was just letting u know my dad does awsome jobs for super cheap cuz he wants to build a portfolio..
But he has shit loads of williamsclio business on at the moment so no need to fight for the business 8)
£300 :D excelent price ill keep that in mind 8)
all parts cost around that....:?
and im talking about killpower/gdi/ etc etc all around £1700-1800
not that cheap after all then dude
well compared to other proper tuning companies i defo am mate
like i say, ur old man cant be making any money on it
he is dude, believe me, he has his ways and non of it is dodgy, all legit business stuff
but not to get into an argument dude...as said he is building a portfolio so all his prices on everything is cheap
and full respray is £350 inc prep work
ok mate...who mentioned an argument?!!
all im saying is the parts used cost around £300
maybe he's charging £300 plus parts?
cheers for your replys guys, i'll bear those people in mind for engine work, sounds cheap as chips, sounds like there a tough engine, going to look at a willy 2 on 72k fsh, on friday, so that should have plenty of life left in it!
cheers
£300.......he can rebuild mine for that lol.
i cant even get all the parts required for a full build for that.even if the cheap non reno bits are used.
spent more than that on pistons

WIlliam JR is that £300 for a rebuild inc parts? or is that just labour cost?
Once he has finished building his portfolios will prices go up?
It must be 300 + parts, as it will take more than 8 hours labour to rebuild an engine.
If theres a job being done you want it done properly. No corners cut, no cheap crappy parts.
New cambelt, tensioners, water pump, pistons rings, big end bearings, main bearings, seals, gaskets, oil, filters etc etc will be more than 300 quid.
Then the head needs a refurb etc, possibly skimmed!
Thats eaxactly wot ive been saying, but no, IM not cheap!
And it takes more than 8 hours...dont forget uve got to remove and refit then engine.
fukkin ell stan.only takes 1/2 hour to av the engine out ;)
willy jr.......so wen u want me to send me willy block n £300 to ur dad for a complete rebuild??
dont want no cheap shit parts tho...only genuine/uprated stuff
Wow! at 300 pound full rebuild, I will crate my F7R over to your pop - when it comes time to renew the insides. Are you quite sure about the price? It's a really, really good price for anywhere in the world.

Shed some light williams Jr youve got some very interested williamsclio members here!
Junior's Dad's portfolio is gonna be bulging at this rate
Oh shit! I just saw the full respray price. Might as well frieght the whole car when the time comes.
Your old man's gonna make workshops in Manila look overpriced. :)
 afaik its £300
i could be wrong but last i heard it was £300

whats the real price?
i havent a clue?
didnt ask, my engine rebuild was free
but what the lads r saying makes sense
but im sure i have heard him say £300, so maybe it is £300 + parts??
well at least uve admitted u were mistaken!
but tbh, no offence to ur old man like, IF labour is THAT cheap, it doesnt reflect high input/skill....u get wot u pay for.
holy crap, there is no way i could sustain myself on that, even if i threw them together.
The cleaning process for one of my builds tekes over a day alone!
Oh shoot, gotta cancel the cargo container now. Maybe it was 300 pounds for just blueprinting the engine, you heard. :D
maybe it was a price for the re-spray that u got mixed up with
even 300 labour as ben says is cheap..........cleaning products cost a fair bit on their own like.then the time spent doin it......
if he carries on charging these prices mate..ur dads pertfolio will be full, but hel be bankrupting himself at the end of the week.
