somebody else must have done this and run into the same problem im having.

i've got the car well up off the ground and and quite easily get to the filter, but the screm that holds the bracket around is totally fudged! its a really stupid design because its exposed to everything that goes underneath the car (water, mud, gravel etc). the damn thing is rusted on and i cant undo it, does anyone have any suggestions? i've given it a spray with WD40 and im gonna leave it a bit to soak in.

also any tips for actually changing the filter? i've got the new one ready to go.

Grind/Chop the head of the screw and you'll be able to remove whats left when the bracket is moved.

i dont think the head is exposed enough to do that mat, its recesed (sp?) into the black bracket. (see pic)

how about carefully drilling the head of bolt off?

its not a bolt, its a torx screw. would that make any diff?

would it just involve sticking a drill into the head and drilling away at it?

it dont matter what head it is, just use a pilot drill the work up in size untill the head falls off, obviously dont drill right through into the tank lol
