Two shots of the car in the same spot, one with bonnet open, one closed.

THen just feathered out part of it on seperate layers, piece of cake for a photoshop pro (no im not one :P )

or use rubber stamp to directly copy the engine part from one to the next as a new layer and then up the transparency on it?

The first one is two layers of the same pic with the bonnet up on the one underneither, then he just rubbed out the bonnet with a low opacity. showing whats under the bonnet. :D
