The minor services are every 6k and major every 36k so 72k is a major service, not sure whats involved or price.

I was given a price last week from my local Renault dealer of £140 for a 6k service

Stick to a good independent garage . Renault garages are complete rip-offs IMO . The 6k service is a very basic service anyway , with only really the oil and filter being changed and a quick check-over of the whole car.

For reference the correct labour time is 1hr 10mins which means at our garage we would charge @£30 for Labour and around £20-30 for oil and filter (depending on oil used) .

Service with OE parts done by yourself will not affect any warranty. Quite often the dealerships only use cheap bits anyway, rather than OE.

Best to get a specialist to do the work IMO, or DIY.

Mikes correct . As long as correct OE parts are used you are allowed to service the vehicle anywhere of your choosing to maintain a manufacturers warranty . Obviously dealers are not too keen to let customers know this.

And dealers will tell you a million other things are wrong and need changing that don't!

so wots 72k service include with addition to minor's?

Cambelt, although i'd do this every 36k or 3/4yrs, whichever comes first.

Steering column aswell i think at 72k?

To be honest i'd just do anything myself now. I don't trust any garages around here, been ripped off to many times, so i've started learning things myself, and its quite easy!

Wouldn't wanna leave my baby with any garage anyway !

Cambelt is every 60 months (5 years) or Renault say 72k , but I never let it go over @50k miles on a cambelt.

As for steering column. Do Renault recommend changing this? My Autodata service book doesnt state it be renewed as a matter of course . I would only change it , if it was worn/damaged.

I take it we're on about a willy/valver?

I'd have just thought air filter, oil filter, oil, plugs. Maybe leads and fuel filter. I'd do both anyway. Check dizzy cap and rotor arm. Coolant flush and refill. Maybe change the brake fluid as well and gonig the whole hog do the PAS fluid.

Then just check over your discs and pads and all your lines and pipes.
