View Full Version : which is more accurate (oil gauge or dip stick)

as above really, the reason i ask is because the gauge in the car ( the one on the left out of the 3) shows the oil level to be full if not more, however the dip stick shows it to be half way.

is this normal, or is it another buggered oil related sensor?

I use the gauge - but i never fill above the max mark on the dipstick.

Use the dipstick always.

my dipstick currently sais half, but the gauge says nearly max!

Yeah, dipstick is the most accurate, never depend on the guage.

dispstick defo, but iv always found the gauge to be quite accurate! enough to ensure you have plenty of oil in anyway!

My oil gauge dont work! he he! So i say dipstick is best! :D

lol, i suppose its common sense that u use the dipstick as the gauge could always be wrong.
