not sure if this should be in here or techincal, but i'll try here 1st :)

i've just bought a MK1 valver, and on the 2hr drive back home i noticed a few things wrong with it and so i've booked a week off work to look at it and try and get it sorted.

i know of a few things id like to do and was wondering if anyone else can recommend anything i can do. also has any guides for some of the following stuff?

>oil change
>air filter change
>coolant flush
>bleed brakes + new fluid

also, is there a way to change the gearbox oil and how do i do it :D

basically at the end of the day i dont this car has been looked after, but really want to get it going good and look after it.

I'd also change your dizzy cap and rotor arm. Made a huge difference on mine.

Yeah, got mine from GSF. Takes no time to change and really did make the car run much smoother.

Also a good idea to change the fuel filter. They don't cost much either.

are there any guides for things like the fuel and oil filter as i really havnt done anything like this before!

also does a haynes maunal exist for the 16v, or is it just the normall clio mk1 book?

yeah the haynes manual for mk1 clios covers the valver so it would be a worthwhile investment if you don't know what your doing.

Search under Ignition. It's listed at £25 for the 16v. R92124

dependin on service history with the car id want to replace cam belt and idler and tensioner and aux belt and tensioner, also a good idea to clean the connections up on the starter motor or replace the wires with decent wire since they are pretty skinny and crap, same for the alternator.
Clean the idle speed control valve out, carb cleaner is meant to be good for that, clean the throttle body, wd40 to make sure its opening smoothly and not getting stuck on anything.
If you can id check the head gasket and inlet manifold gasket
check exhaust for blows, quite common
Clean the injectors out, some injector cleaner in the tank should work.
check for any kind of leaks/drips
check brakes and wheel bearings
engine mounts etc.
screen wash pumps, rear one tends to pack in.
dash gauges and bulbs, make sure everything works :D
